    Melton debió competir en su época con los americanos Crooks, Peerce, Tucker, Kullman, Conley, y luego de terminada la guerra, con el joven Di Stéfano, Tagliavini, del Mónaco…Era una dura competencia. Cuántos de los tenores de los años ochenta años en adelante habrían sobrevivido en esa lucha?
